HYC 2011 MOORAGE SLIP ALLOCATION. Your HYC Fleet Captain has produced a 2011 Moorage Drawing that show all moorage assignment slips for the 2011 Boating Season. Log into the HYC members only section to see the 2011 Moorage Drawing or look it up on the BB by the marine radio at the HYC.

2011 HYC BOATERS DAY. Sincere thanks to our Vice Commodore as well as all HYC members who made this event a success. The funds raised from this event as well as a contribution from the HYC will provide the Kent - Harrison Search & Rescue Unit with a $467.17 donation.

WHO ARE WE?

The Harrison Yacht Club (HYC) is a society governed by the Society Act of British Columbia, Canada. We are a non-profit yacht club. The purposes of HYC must be carried out without financial gain for its members and any profit or other accretions to the HYC shall be used for promoting its purposes.

HYC PURPOSES ARE TO:

1- encourage safe boating;

2- provide stewardship of the environment of Harrison Lake;

3- provide and maintain a suitable marina and club facility for its members;

4- promote the fundamental strengths of the club through social interaction and membership volunteer work efforts; and

5- provide representation to recognize other Yacht Club organizations

HISTORY

The HYC was founded on March 7th, 1978 by a small group of sailing and boating enthusiasts from various communities in the Upper Fraser Valley. The HYC initially operated from the Old Yellow Dock at the Harrison Marina. In 1984 the HYC moved to its present location at the old Ranger Station where it has sub-leased water lot Block “D” and the old Ranger Station garage and maintenance facility from the Village of Harrison Hot Springs. Since then all improvements and additions to the docks and the old Ranger Station garage (now the HYC Clubhouse) have become the property of the Village of Harrison Hot Springs. On the August 14, 2007 the HYC, in partnership with the Village of Harrison Hot Springs, was able to secure a five year sub-lease for the water lot Block D. This agreement has allowed to HYC to better plan its future while providing a fair sub-lease return to the Village of Harrison Hot Springs.

SUMMARY

The HYC has promoted safe boating and sailing about Harrison Lake since 1978 through its close association with the Valley Power Squadron, the Canadian Coast Guard Auxiliary, and the Kent-Harrison Rescue Unit. The HYC further contributes to the local community by making significant donations in kind, work, or money to various local events and projects such as the Long Island Bay Forestry Park, the Village of Harrison Hot Springs Canada Day Celebrations, the Annual Harrison Lake Clean up, and others. The Harrison Yacht club is a member of the Harrison/Agassiz Chamber of Commerce and the Council of BC Yacht Club (CBCYC).
